November It’s finally fall! The mornings are crisp and cool, the oak trees are dropping acorns, and the school year is in full swing. November always reminds me of the opportunity to reflect and appreciate daily happenings. Thank you for supporting Thousand Oaks Elementary everyday by sending your child to school with a great attitude. I am so thankful for the outstanding students who smile, say “hi”, use the very best manners, and have a great time in school. It makes for a wonderful day, week, and year! I’d also like to say I am thankful for students who eagerly come to school to learn I am thankful for the parents, grandparents, and volunteers who give their time to help with individual classroom or school wide projects. I am thankful for the dedicated faculty and staff members who have chosen our school as the place to make a difference. And I am thankful for the continued community support our school receives. Our students’ days are filled academic activities. There is a lot to learn and a lot to accomplish! It’s the teacher’s presentation and the expectation that sets the tone and it’s the student’s involvement and understanding that makes the content learning unique. Here are several topics you could ask your child about:
Thousand Oaks Elementary has many terrific individuals who lead the way in school and family activities. It’s the connection between the home and school that promotes the daily academic lessons and helps add relevancy. The PTA, Parent Teacher Association, is a definite strength on our campus. PTA is about parents exchanging ideas, promoting interesting and fun activities, and communicating with each other. PTA models community leadership. Holly Zeiner, PTA President, is someone who has dedicated her leadership to our organization for many years. Holly and her family are relocating. We will miss her positive attitude and remarkable skills. Thank you Holly for the difference you have made with our Thousand Oaks learning community. I would like to thank Mary Sullivan, Sandy Winkley, Coach Kyle Johnson, Anchorman Randy Beamer, City Councilman John Clamp, Texas State Representative Joaquin Castro, Donicio Perez, our students, parents, faculty, and staff for championing the 2nd Annual Thousand Oaks Great Strides Cystic Fibrosis 5k Walk/Run. The morning was filled with fun, exercise, prizes, and friends!
Thank you for your continued support, Janet Dietel
