AR Readers Tour San Antonio

2008--2009

First through fifth grade students at Thousand Oaks Elementary School are invited to learn about our own city as they improve their reading ability and develop their love of reading.

This year’s Accelerated Reader theme of Touring San Antonio encourages students to take advantage of opportunities to read, write and learn where ever they are.

Students who are reading independently are invited to join the tour.  Students will be introduced on the morning program and will be invited to share what they have learned about San Antonio’s cultural, historical, or science related destinations and events through the postcards they will be asked to design. These post cards and student’s first names will be posted on the AR bulletin board when they reach the Accelerated Reader point levels for their grade level.

Kindergarteners and first graders, not yet reading independently, are invited to participate in other Read Kids Read activities such as Read for the Record on October 2nd and  the Read Around the School events scheduled for October and May.  All Thousand Oaks Students and their families are encouraged to spend at least 20 minutes each day reading for enjoyment.
