BOARD GOALS FOR THE DISTRICT:

1. NEISD will challenge all students to maximize their knowledge and potential for learning.

2. All campuses will provide and maintain a safe, supportive atmosphere.

3. All campuses will serve as centers for community involvement.

4. NEISD will emphasize character development and civic responsibility across the curriculum.

5. NEISD will strive to continue improving its efficient and effective management of District resources.

MEMBERSHIP:

Since May, 1996, a single-member district system has been in place for the election of Board members. They are elected by the district in which they currently reside. They serve four-year terms. Elections are held during even numbered years. On May 10, 2008, Board members will be elected in Districts 1, 4, 5 and 6. In May 2010, Board members will be elected in Districts 2, 3, and 7.

MEETINGS:

Board meetings are regularly scheduled on the second Monday of each month. School holidays are exceptions to this. Meeting dates are noted on the school calendar. At all regularly scheduled meetings, the closed session begins at 5:30 p.m. The regular open meeting convenes at 6:30 p.m. Special board meetings are called as needed. Notice of all board meetings is posted 72 hours in advance on a bulletin board located at the front entrance of the North East Education Center, 8961 Tesoro Drive. Beth Plummer “I am committed to the betterment of this district for all students, not just my own. I enjoy hearing about what students accomplish, especially when overcoming odds that most would consider insurmountable. These stories are what inspire me to continue to serve.” District 5	Brigitte Perkins “I became a member because my last child was graduating from high school, and I hated to see all the volunteer service I had already given to the district simply come to an abrupt end. I continue to serve due to the need for service, and I simply love children and want to be sure they are getting the best!” District 7
Molly Pruitt “I am in my 23rd year on the Board, and I am still energized by the constant challenge of trying to make responsible decisions that ensure top quality education for our students.” District 4	Bruce Bennett “I decided to become a member to get involved with the education of the children in this community and to become a member of a world class organization: the NEISD.” District 6
Sandy Hughey “With my heavy involvement in the PTA Council, I knew that I wanted to continue my commitment to the district. I spend my spare time on education issues and whatever I can do to try to show legislators how to put our children, not politics, first.” District 1	Susan Galindo “It is an honor for me to serve the families of NEISD as a Trustee on the school board. I am very excited about being a part of the best school district in San Antonio and helping plan for the future!” District 3
Edd White “My reason for running for election to the Board was to assist in the improvement of the quality of education in the district. I enjoy serving on the Board and assisting in the improvement of the quality of education in the district.” District 2
