Tejeda reaches gold, students make math count
|
In March 2008, participating student in Tejeda Middle School's MATHCOUNTS Club Program took the Ultimate Math Challenge, and reached the Gold Level status. To reach this award level, least 12 of the school's students needed to score at least 80% of the Challenge. Tejeda will be listed on the MATHCOUNTS website, and will receive a banner showcasing their gold-level status. This year marks the 25th anniversary of MATHCOUNTS. The mission of the program is to increase enthusiasm for and achievement in middle school mathematics throughout the United States. Tejeda has participated in the program since it opened. This year, in an effort to support existing math clubs and encourage the formation of new math clubs, MATHCOUNTS started the MATHCOUNTS Club Program. In addition to problems of the week, posters, and other resources, the club program offered two levels of achievement, silver and gold. Tejeda students participated in monthly challenge problems to earn the Silver Level status. "It is an awesome achievement for our students to obtain the highest level possible in the first year of the MATHCOUNTS Club Program," said Tejeda MATHCOUNTS Coach Max Melcher. |
