S.T.E.M. students learn with virtual lounge
|
Each morning, one particular hallway at Lee High School serves as a classroom for the dedicated ninth-grade students of the S.T.E.M. Academy who arrive early to take advantage of the wireless network. Since being issued the laptop computers in February, students have been able to use them to work in class and at home on projects and assignments. Because the innovative Academy’s coursework has been put online using Moodle, a classroom management system, students can access homework, submit assignments, participate in forum discussions and check their grades any time they have access to the Internet. The laptops and online curriculum provide students with the freedom to work collaboratively each morning in the hallway near the S.T.E.M. classrooms creating a virtual student lounge. |
