Oak Meadow third-graders put economics in action

Oak Meadow third-graders recently finished a unit on economics and became merchants during a county fair at the school on April 11, 2008. The students made artistic items to sell to the kindergartners through second-graders. Each put the economic lessons learned into action by using principles such as supply and demand, goods and services, profit, products and the use of money. Some of the items the students sold were door hangers, stress balls, bracelets, homemade play-doh, magnets and other items. After the students totaled their income, the money will be going to benefit a charity chosen by the teachers.
