Breaking new ground, Madison sophomore sets city TD record

Madison High School sophomore Aaron Green led the Mavericks to a 69-56 victory over Tivy High School, breaking San Antonio's single-game scoring record with nine touchdowns. He scored four times in the first half and five in the second.

"Aaron is a special talent who realizes that football is a great team sport," said Jim Street, Madison football coach. "He will always put the team before himself, and that is what separates him from others."

The previous record was eight, held by Clark High School’s Jerrell Wilkerson (2004), Zach Collins of Randolph High School (2004) and Reagan High School's Marcus Wright (2006).

"I'm just happy we won," said Green. "I expected to have a good game, but not nine touchdowns."

In addition to his touchdown total, Green also rushed for 428 yards, the third-highest total in city history behind Madison’s Devin Thomas, 487 in 2006, and Edgewood High School's Ronnie Asmore, 476 in 1985.
