iMAK students win awards for talents in journalism


Krueger Middle School iMAK students recently won numerous Interscholastic League Press Conference (ILPC) awards for their participation in the state-wide competition for newspaper and broadcast journalism students. They brought home 10 medals and two ribbons. "This is an amazing accomplishment for a first-year program," said Scott Rogers, Krueger Magnet school director. "These students are truly making a name for themselves and the outstanding iMAK program at a state-wide level."
 
For Newspaper Individual Achievement awards:
 
Krueger placed first in the state and received a gold medal for General News Photo by Poled Villa.
Krueger placed second and received a bronze medal in Editorial Writing by Victoria Noble.
Krueger also placed third in state and received 3 bronze medals for:
Sports feature by Joshua Espinoza and Joy Sanchez,
Sports Column Writing by Andy Wilson,
and Double Truck Newspaper Design by Katrina DelaCruz and Alyssa Lundgren.

The Falcon News Staff also received two honorable mentions for Front Page Design and Feature Photo by Victoria Ramirez.
 
The KRGR TV crew also placed first in the state in the broadcasting achievement awards with one gold medal in Video Editing, two silver medals in News Broadcasting and Feature Story Reporting and two bronze medals for General News Story and News Broadcast by Connor Veale, Domingo Molina, Jacob Davis, Ben Polio, William Bailey and Stephanie Wade.
 
The school would like to congratulate Mrs. Marafioto and Mrs. Morriss for helping iMAK/Krueger win their first statewide journalism recognition.
