Fox Run student wins first place with dinner recipe

Alicia Mitchell, a Fox Run Elementary School second-grader, won first place in the Dinner Category of the Texas Department of Agriculture's Kids Kitchen Corral Cooking Contest. Representatives from the Department will visit the school on Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at 10 a.m. to present Mitchell with her award during a school assembly. "I am extremely proud of Alicia and her accomplishments," said Assistant Principal Cynthia Jacob. "Our Fox Run family is looking forward to her being recognized on May 20th." Mitchell's recipe will be featured on the Square Meals Web Site book covers (2008-2009 school year) and printed recipe cards. She will also receive prizes, a framed certificate and a first place medallion. All Texas students, ages six - 18 and attend a school participating in the National School Lunch Program, were eligible to enter the contest. Recipe entries were divided into four different categories: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and Snack. |
