North East Trustee joins 2008 Leadership TASB class

North East ISD trustee, Edd White, joined other school board members from across the state on Feb. 21-23, 2008 at the third session of Leadership TASB (Texas Association of School Boards) in Corpus Christi. Participants gathered as part of class activities in the year-long education leadership study program sponsored by the organization. The session's theme was "Envision New Possibilities through Embracing the Differences."

Keynote speakers included educators, counselors and diversity trainers who addressed topics such as the celebration of diversity and demographic trends, and how these issues are reshaping public education.

The 2008 Leadership TASB class includes 35 school board members representing Texas school districts of all sizes and property wealth. Those who complete required elements of the study program earn master trustee status, the highest designation recognized by TASB.

TASB is a nonprofit organization established in 1949 to serve local Texas school districts.  School board members are the largest group of publicly elected officials in the state.  The districts they represent serve more than 4.5 million public school students.

Edd White has been with the North East ISD School Board since May 1996.
