On Saturday, Apr. 19, 2008, three Tejeda Middle School students will be recognized by the Sons of the Republic for their winning presentations on Ben Milam, a Texas Revolution hero who died at the Battle of Bexar. Students Tyler Wilson, Jason Chen and Manuel De La Garza, will be recognized in a ceremony held at the Alamo Plaza in downtown San Antonio.
In addition to recognition, these students will also be awarded a savings bond.
Students participating in this three-tiered contest submitted a poster, photos and timeline and essay on Ben Milam. The contest was judged by member of the Sons of the Republic.
