Harris Middle School will host its second annual Spring Festival on May 10, 2008 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the campus. The community is invited to this free event to celebrate history, culture and community. History re-enactors from many different historical periods will be on campus, including Buffalo Soldiers, mountain men, Roman gladiators, Civil War soldiers, World War II combatants, Indian fighters, and other groups will tell their stories and demonstrate their weapons. Cannons will also be fired as part of mock demonstrations. In addition, several craft groups from weaving, chair caning, rug hooking, candle making, gourd carving, doll making, quilting and others will be on hand to teach their crafts and display merchandise. Games, entertainment, food booths and community information will also be available. Special exhibits from the Police and Fire departments and local military bases will also be at the festival.
