To satisfy the requirements for the No Child Left Behind Act, the Pre-Employment requirements for Instructional Assistants at NEISD Title 1 schools are:
- 48 College Credit Hours or
- Associates Degree or Higher or

Take a rigorous test that equates to 2 years of college (the rigorous
test adopted by NEISD is: ETS ParaPro Test. )

SUBSTITUTES:
As of April 1, 2008 we are no longer accepting / processing substitute teacher or substitute assistant applications for the 2007-2008 school year. We will begin accepting substitute applications for the 2008-2009 school year on or about June 1, 2008. Please check our web site for further updates. Applicants for Substitute Teacher are required to have a Bachelors Degree or higher. Substitute Nurses are required to have a current RN license and Substitute Assistants are required to have a high school diploma or college hours.
Substitute Teachers/Substitute Nurses please complete the substitute teacher
application. Substitute Nurses must contact the Health Services Department for further information (210) 804-7147.
Substitute Assistants please complete the Classified application and indicate Substitute Para as one of your job preferences.
