Location
The North East Independent School District spans approximately 140 square miles
in the north central and northeast sectors of Bexar County, Texas. The majority
of the district lies within the boundaries
of the City of San Antonio, but several smaller communities are also encompassed
within North East ISD, including the cities of Castle Hills, Hill Country Village,
Hollywood Park and Windcrest.
Accreditation
All campuses in North East ISD are fully accredited by the Texas Education Agency. NEISD has 9 "Exemplary" schools, the most in Bexar County for the third year in a row.
The U.S. Department of Education bestowed the No Child Left Behind - Blue Ribbon Award to three North East high schools in 2000, three elementary schools in 2001, and two elementary schools in 2007. In addition, North East boasts a National Exemplary Community Education Program.
Transportation
Services are provided for all students residing beyond a two-mile radius of
their respective schools. Some students may also receive transportation along

Special Programs
North East ISD provides unique programs for Gifted
and Talented students grades kindergarten through 12.
Career and Technology Education courses are offered at all middle and high school campuses. Numerous magnet programs also exist at the elementary, middle and high school levels. These magnet programs are Castle Hills Elementary School; Krueger School of Applied Technologies (K-SAT) at Krueger Middle School; Interactive Media Applications (iMAK) at Krueger Middle School; Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (S.T.E.M.) Academy at Nimitz Middle School; Agriscience Magnet Program (AMP) at Madison High School; Automotive Technology Academy (ATA); Design and Technology Academy (DATA) at Roosevelt High School; Electrical Systems Technology (EST) at MacArthur High School; Engineering and Technologies Academy (ETA) at Roosevelt High School; International School of the Americas (ISA) at Lee High School; Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (S.T.E.M.) A full range of bilingual and special education programs are available to students. Special education programs are available to students who qualify and for whom the ARD/IEP committee has determined an educational need for special education. Both mainstream and self-contained special education services are available. Persons wishing to initiate referral to special education should contact the child's home school.
