Utility Usage & Cost Year to Date
The Facility Maintenance and Support Department has the responsibility to manage and ensure the most efficient use and conservation of energy and natural resources for the District's facilities.
The Energy Coordinators are responsible for conducting evaluations of facility utilities and energy requirements. They assist the campuses to impliment measures to maximize energy efficiency and reduce energy costs. They work closely with the department's General Foreman to ensure sound practices are applied in the maintenance and operation of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment, building energy controls, electrical and lighting equipment and domestic water and irrigation systems.
The Energy Management Program includes the following elements:
1. Utility Cost Monitoring and Evaluation
· Manage utility budget of $11.7 million.
· Review and approve monthly utility bills
· Implement electronic billing and payment procedures.
· Prepare utility use and cost reports for District Administration.
2. Energy Management Control System Optimization
· Automated control of heating and cooling equipment district wide.
· Establish standard schedule and set-point guidelines.
· Establish un-occupied relative humidity control.
· Perform ongoing EMCS software maintenance to ensure accuracy and integrity of program logic, schedules and set-points.
3. Campus Energy Awareness
· Distribute the Campus Energy Conservation Best Practices.
· Review Schedule and Set Point Guidelines.
· Prepare utility cost and savings reports for Campus Administrators
· Conduct campus energy site visits.
4. Energy Efficiency Improvement Projects
· Recommend efficient technologies at concept and design review of approved Bond projects.
· Evaluate campus energy upgrade needs to prepare and submit project requests.
· Utilize utility company rebate and incentive programs.
5. Water Conservation Practices
· Completed SAWS Non-Profit Toilet Retrofit Program throughout the District.
· Develop the Athletic Fields Conservation Plan to comply with city ordinance rules for drought critical periods.
· Monitor compliance with water use restrictions during drought critical periods.
· Perform the annual Irrigation System Check-up inspections as required by city ordinance and send in to SAWS.
· Assist campus athletic coordinators and custodians with programming and operating the automated irrigation system controllers for landscapes and athletic fields.
6. Refuse and Garbage Disposal Service
· Manage service contract and review and approve monthly invoices.
· Respond to calls from the campuses about missed or delayed service pick-ups.
· Arrange requests for extra pick-ups for special events.
· Submit requests for new service locations and/or change in container sizes.
· Survey the location and condition of all containers.
