Kick-off Event for Diabetes Walk
Lopez is supporting the American Diabetes Association through a local fundraising effort. The American Diabetes Association is leading the fight against the deadly consequences of diabetes and fighting for those afefcted by diabetes. An impressive 75% of every dollar spent goes to support research, advocacy, information and public awareness for people affected by diabetes.
Diabetes affects the following groups of people born after the year 2000: 1 out of 2 Hispanics, 1 out of 2 Blacks, and 1 out of 3 Whites. So what can you do to protect yourself? Exercise at least 30 minutes a day (just simply walk the block for 1/2 an hour), cut out sodas, drink more water, and eliminate fast-food!
On April 12th, 2010, all of the Lopez P.E. Classes will be walking in support of the American Diabetes Association.
