PHYSICAL THERAPIST

| MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: |
- Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy from four-year college or university or Bachelor's Degree in another field with a Certificate in Physical Therapy
- Graduate of a Physical Therapy Program which has been approved by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy/Education/American Physical Association
- Fifth year college or university program certificate
- Experience in pediatrics, rehabilitation and multidisciplinary settings is desirable
- Licensure from Texas State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners
- Valid Texas Drivers License with driving record that meets the requirements of the District

| MAJOR PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: |
- Follows the referral process by providing screenings and evaluations, attending necessary Admission, Review and Dismissal Committee Meetings, and obtaining the appropriate medical consent form for provision of physical therapy services
- Provides educationally related physical therapy input to the team for the development of Individual Educational Plans (IEP's) for each qualified student
- Assures implementation of appropriate physical therapy programs to meet IEP goals
- Teaches parents, teachers, assistants and other appropriate individuals to assist in implementing physical therapy programs
- Coordinates with teachers and assistants so that appropriate in service education relating to implementation of physical therapy programs, use of proper body mechanics, handling and positioning of students, or other pertinent topics can be addressed
- Coordinates with school personnel as necessary to assure provision of an appropriate program for each qualified student
- Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of therapy programs using observation, collected data, anecdotal records, and/or pre-post testing
- Maintains contact with the students family to coordinate goals, teach and review home programs, and assist with problem solving
- Coordinates with outside agencies, vendors , and physicians in order to provide educationally appropriate services for each eligible student
- Performs additional duties and accepts other responsibilities as may be assigned
