OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST
2008-2009 SCHOOL YEAR
SPECIAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree from four-year college or university
Registered with the American Occupational Therapy Association
Occupational Therapist Licensure by the State of Texas
Licensed by the National Board of Certified Occupational Therapists
Valid Texas Drivers License with driving record that meets the requirements of the District

MAJOR PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Instructs teaching staff (teachers and assistants)
Presents in service training or therapy related topics to parents and teachers
Provides occupational therapy input for development of Individual Educational Plans (IEP)
Supervises students in clinical or pre-clinical training from approved universities
Assures implementation of appropriate occupational therapy programs to meet IEP goals
Recommends and assists others in procurement of assistive devices required for student educational participation
Maintains accurate and current progress reports for each student, ensuring confidentiality
Re-evaluates treatment programs and revises objectives periodically
Monitors and evaluates effectiveness of occupational therapy treatment programs using observation, collected data, anecdotal records and/or pre-posting testing
Maintains working relationships with classroom teachers, parents and administrative staff
Coordinates with outside agencies and physicians as necessary (networking)
Attends staff development and professional seminars to upgrade and maintain skills
Performs additional duties and accepts other responsibilities as may be assigned

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

SALARY: $48,200-$59,141 PAY GRADE: A3 WORK SCHEDULE: TEN MONTHS
