HEARING OFFICER
PUPIL PERSONNEL DEPARTMENT

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's Degree
  • Four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Valid Texas Teaching Certificate
  • Principal, Assistant Principal, Mid-Management or Superintendent's Certification by the State Board
  • Valid Texas Driver's License with driving record that meets the requirements of the District
MAJOR PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Works cooperatively with administrators and staff to develop and maintain a safe school environment for effective instructional management
  • Utilizes management practices that promote collegiality, teamwork and collaborative decision making among staff members
  • Provides for an effective two way communication channel with staff, District employees, media, community and the Board of Trustees
  • Contributes to the recommendation of sound policies directed toward improvement of Pupil Personnel Services practices
  • Conducts expulsion hearings; prepares scripts, policies, etc. for hearings
  • Prepares and participates in expulsion appeals to the Board of Trustees
  • Prepares paperwork and organizes files for disciplinary hearings
  • Confers and contacts Juvenile Justice Academy (J.J.A.) and schedules intakes and orientation for expelled students
  • Determines if student is expelled or otherwise disciplined
  • Conducts discipline conferences for reinstatement or placement at an Alternative Educational Placement (AEP)
  • Conducts conferences with parents and students regarding advanced enrollments
  • Coordinates with school and local law enforcement agencies
  • Inputs data, answers phone calls, notifies parents and campuses on any topic specific to Pupil Personnel Services and directs other calls to proper person/department
  • Performs additional duties and accepts other responsibilities as may be assigned

SALARY:

$61,778-$74,882

PAY GRADE: A5 WORK SCHEDULE: Eleven Months
