Grade Writing Assessment
Assessment 1 (January):
During the month of January, select
a writing sample(s) that represents end of first semester work. Evaluate each student?s writing using the writing assessment
checklist for 5th grade.
Assessment 2 (May):
During the month of May, select a writing
sample(s) that represents end-of-year work.
Evaluate each student?s writing using the writing assessment checklist
for 5th grade.
Post Assessment: At the close of each semester, the teacher and student should examine the assessments to determine growth and needs in writing. These assessments may be returned to the student/parent at the end of the school year (This reflects a change as of Spring 2006 in the former practice of sending the assessments to the middle schools).
