NEISD GED PROGRAM
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
General: The GED Exam was revised as of January 1, 2002. Tests taken before January 1, 2002 cannot be combined with the new versions.
The GED is timed and consists of five tests in the following subjects: Math (Two equally weighted parts. Calcultor use permitted on part 1 ONLY, calculators are provided, total both parts-90 minutes; 50 items), Language Arts Writing (75 minutes for 50 multiple choice items and 45 minutes for essay); Language Arts Reading (65 minutes, 40 items); Socail Studies (70 minutes, 50 items); Science (80 minutes, 50 items).
Only registered students will be permitted to test. NO-SHOWS WILL NOT RECIEVE A REFUND AND WILL BE CHARGES $10.00 TO TRANSFER TO ANOTHER TEST DATE.
Transfer requests made by 12:00 p.m. on the Friday prior to testing will not incur a transfer fee.
Scoring: All scoring is done in Austin. You will receive your scores in the mail approximately two weeks from the date you tested.
GED Certificate: Upon successfully completing all five GED tests, you will receive an official Certification of High School Equivalancy from the Texas Education Agency in Austin, Texas.
GED Graduation: You may choose to participate in the special "cap and gown" ceremony to be held in May 2008. For more information contact NEISD Adult Education at (210)657-8866.
GED Scholarships: The Ray Bordelon GED Scholarship and the Alamo Heights Rotary GED Scholarships are awarded annually to the GED Graduation Ceremony. Students who attend NEISD classes or test at the NEISD Testing Center are eligible to apply. For more information call NEISD Adult Education at (210)657-8866.
GED Transcripts: If you require test scores, certificates or GED transcripts, call the GED Testing Unit at the Texas Education Agency at (512)463-9292. You can also download Request For a Dupicate GED Certificate form by logging on to: http://www.tea.state.tx.us/ged/certreq.html . Complete the form and mail it in with your check for $5.00.
